The synergistic nutritional effects of boron and magnesium

The functions of boron (B) :

Promoting reproductive growth: Boron is crucial for plant flowering, pollination, fruit setting and seed formation, especially having a significant impact on crops such as rapeseed, fruit trees (such as apples and citrus), and legumes.

Enhance cell wall stability: Participate in the synthesis of pectin in the cell wall and improve the plant's stress resistance to lodging and disease.

Regulate sugar transport: Promote the transportation of photosynthetic products to fruits and roots, and enhance fruit quality.

The functions of magnesium (Mg) :

The core component of chlorophyll: Magnesium is an essential element for chlorophyll molecules and directly affects the efficiency of photosynthesis.

Enzyme activators: They are involved in the synthesis of ATP (energy carriers) and the activation of various enzymes, promoting carbohydrate metabolism and protein synthesis.

Regulating nutrient balance: Alleviating magnesium deficiency symptoms caused by excessive potassium or calcium application, and improving plant nutrient absorption.

Synergistic effect: Szaibelyite provides both boron and magnesium simultaneously, which can solve the growth disorders of crops caused by the deficiency of a single element, such as "flowering but not fruiting" due to boron deficiency and leaf yellowing due to magnesium deficiency.

APPLICATION AND DOSAGE

Applicable crops:

Crops with high boron requirements: rape, sugar beets, sunflowers, apples, grapes, tomatoes, beans, etc.

Crops with high magnesium requirements: potatoes, corn, rice, citrus fruits, etc.

Applicable soil:

Boron-deficient soil: sandy soil, acidic soil with poor organic matter, or farmland where boron is lost due to long-term application of chemical fertilizers.

Magnesium-deficient soil: acidic red soil, soil that has long been fertilized with high potassium content (potassium inhibits magnesium absorption).

Application method:

Base fertilizer: After being mixed with other fertilizers, it can be spread or applied in furrows. The dosage per acre is usually 60 to 120 kilograms (adjusted according to soil tests).

Top dressing: It can be dissolved and applied through drip irrigation or foliar spraying (pay attention to the concentration to avoid excessive boron).

PRECAUTION

Control dosage: Excessive boron can cause plant poisoning (such as leaf edge charring). It is recommended to apply when the available boron content in the soil is lower than 0.5 mg/kg.

Combination with other fertilizers: Avoid direct mixing with high-phosphorus fertilizers (which may form sediment), and it can be used in combination with organic fertilizers or nitrogen-potassium fertilizers.

PH adaptability: It works better in acidic soil, while the availability of boron may decrease in alkaline soil.
