Kaolin

Product No.:486

  • Details
Kaolin, also Kaolinite or china clay, is a naturally occurring, soft, white, plate-like aluminum silicate clay mineral. Its primary component is the mineral kaolinite (Al₂Si₂O₅(OH)₄).
Agricultural Kaolin is a specially processed, finely ground, white clay powder that is approved for use in organic and conventional farming. It is a naturally occurring mineral primarily composed of kaolinite. When mixed with water and sprayed onto crops, it forms a protective, porous, white particle film that acts as a versatile physical barrier against various environmental stresses. This innovative approach provides a safe, effective, and sustainable tool for Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and crop protection, helping to improve yield and fruit quality while reducing reliance on synthetic chemicals.

SPECIFICATION/CONTENT

SiO2: 52%
Al2O3: 43%
Moisture: 1%max
Rich in various trace elements
Type: 100 mesh powder; micropowder 2500 mesh

CHARACTERISTICS AND BENEFITS
1. The white particle film reflects harmful infrared (IR) and ultraviolet (UV) light, reducing leaf surface temperature and sunburn damage on fruits. This helps prevent heat stress, which can inhibit photosynthesis and reduce yields.
2. The film creates a hostile environment for a broad spectrum of insect pests (such as psyllids, leafhoppers, thrips, mites, and certain borers). It does not poison them but acts by camouflage, irritation and barrier.
3. The protective layer can help suppress certain fungal and bacterial diseases (like powdery mildew, scab, and fire blight) by preventing pathogen spores from directly contacting the leaf surface and by creating a drier microclimate less conducive to spore germination.
4. By reducing heat stress, the plant can maintain more efficient photosynthesis for longer periods. Additionally, the reflected light can enhance light penetration into the inner canopy, potentially boosting overall plant productivity.
5. By reducing heat stress, the plant can maintain more efficient photosynthesis for longer periods. Additionally, the reflected light can enhance light penetration into the inner canopy, potentially boosting overall plant productivity.
6. By cooling the plant and reducing transpiration, kaolin clay can help improve water use efficiency, an important benefit in drought-prone areas.

APPLICATION AND DOSAGE
Kaolin is applicable to different kinds of crops, such as apples, pears, cherries, grapes, citrus, pomegranates, olives, tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, and potatoes etc.

For Agitating Sprayer Tanks
For Concentrate Application - Use 50 lbs. of Kaolin per 100 gallons of water.
For Dilute Application - Use 50 lbs. of Kaolin per 200 gallons of water

A spreader-sticker adjuvant is often recommended to be added to the tank mix. This helps the kaolin slurry spread evenly across the leaf surface and adhere strongly to withstand rain and irrigation.

PRECAUTION
Trial in small scale before large-scale use
